Job Description
The Sequencing Specialist will have a primary responsibility of managing the Sanger Sequencing platform and QC Services to the Genomics Sequencing Centers (GSC) customers. As a secondary responsibility the specialist will help with Illumina Sequencing platforms when necessary. In addition the specialist will be cross-trained to assist in other technologies which include but are not limited to Laboratory Information Management System high-throughput sample preparation real-time PCR next-generation sequencing and other molecular applications as needed to accomplish specific project goals.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Biological Sciences or related field or equivalent laboratory training or experience. Experience in molecular biology techniques; nucleic acid quantitative methods. Experience with sequencing data analysis software such as Sequencher and/or Sequence Scanner. Experience using basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite. The individual must be detail-oriented and able to keep concise laboratory records and documentation. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. The applicant must be team-oriented able to work in a fast-paced high-throughput laboratory environment and possess excellent time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with laboratory automation and robotics.
Experience in laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
