Job Description

Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA)Your chance to work with the best!

Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to from and through Brisbane in the future. It is a catalyst for wider rail transformation underway across the South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD with four new underground stations at Boggo Road Woolloongabba Albert Street and Roma Street. The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also tasked with multiple supporting projects and activities including accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast upgrades for stabling yards track works and surface rail enhancements and the introduction of a new world-class digital train signalling system.

About the Role

The Principal Rail Operations Advisor supports the operational integration of Cross River Rail into the broader transport network. The role sits within the Customer and Network Integration team and works across agencies to embed customer needs operational requirements and service integration throughout project delivery.

Working with Queensland Rail the Department of Transport and Main Roads and internal teams the role coordinates multi-agency activities facilitates working groups manages risks and changes and supports alignment of project milestones with operational requirements.

The role also coordinates contracted technical inputs translating content such as rail operations modelling into actionable insights. It supports delivery of sponsor requirementssuch as network capacity journey times frequency and operational resilienceby ensuring operational considerations are considered in project decisions.

This opportunity is offered as a full-time contract for a period of 2 years with possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate strategic operational activities to support Cross River Rails integration with the current and future transport network.
  • Facilitate multi-agency collaboration to align operational priorities timelines and contract requirements.
  • Support operational integration activities and ensure milestone delivery in line with stakeholder needs.
  • Provide operational advice to support senior-level engagements and decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the Cross River Rail Opening Plan and operational strategies.
  • Support validation and assurance processes to confirm infrastructure and systems meet required outcomes.
  • Identify and address risks issues and opportunities associated with operational integration.
  • Assist in managing third-party technical advisor contracts including deliverable coordination and performance monitoring.
  • Organise and lead monthly technical working groups including agendas presentations minutes and actions tracking.
  • Maintain operational issues register and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare briefings reports program updates meeting packs and communication materials.

About You:

To be successful in this role we are looking for a candidate who has the following attributes and skills.

  • Proven ability to work confidently and independently with minimal supervision in a similar role.
  • Experience in rail or transport operations planning particularly in project environments involving multiple agencies.
  • Strong ability to convert complex or technical content into high-quality written material and presentations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills across diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to coordinate project activities track deliverables and contribute to fast-paced delivery environments.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative time management organisation and problem-solving skills with a clear focus on delivering objectives.
