Job Description

Job Summary
The Director of Development will secure private and voluntary support from alumni and friends for UT Arlington Libraries and Honors College. Manage a portfolio to identify qualify and cultivate potential major gift donors. Solicit constituents in collaboration with academic leadership and ensure proper recognition and stewardship. Collaborate with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations and within the Libraries and Honors College to develop and advance fundraising strategies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of 80-100 potential or actual donors. Make personal contact including in-person visits with a portfolio of individuals and when appropriate corporate representatives and foundation officers to build relationships and secure major gifts for the Libraries and Honors College in coordination with the Deans of the Libraries and Honors College. Serve as an integral team member for the Libraries and Honors College and work closely with the leadership faculty and staff in the Colleges to develop and advance fundraising strategies. Participate in strategic engagement opportunities for the College and UTA Libraries. Work closely with the Executive Director for Unit Development to complete fundraising projects related to the Libraries and Honors College and other special constituencies as assigned. Assist in the oversight of volunteer management for the Honors College and the Libraries including an advisory board or committees and participate in volunteer leadership activities that engage and cultivate relationships. Work collaboratively with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree is required with a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in major gift fundraising and with a solid track record of securing major gifts or related and transferable experience from corporate community or philanthropic organizations. Candidate must have: Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective cultivation solicitation and stewardship strategies; a very strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through. Strong commitment to the University and Colleges mission and values. Superior communication skills with the ability to speak credibly about higher Business and the aspirations of the University and College and be able to deliver effective written and oral presentations. Ability to travel extensively for meetings and to participate regularly in events and activities. Ability to manage complex relationships and be a proven collaborator with teamwork skills. Ability to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives including goals and metrics for major gift activity and dollars raised.

Preferred Qualifications
Over seven years of experience in major gift fundraising with a proven track record of success securing gifts at the six-figure level and higher. Experience managing volunteers; prior work history at an institution of higher Business. Prior experience fundraising for a College of Business or other academic unit. Experience with capital campaigns; knowledge of gift planning instruments and the ability to market them to alumni and other prospective donors. Experience using Blackbaud (Raisers Edge NXT ) or other Advancement databases. the ability to work with a diverse student body staff and constituents is preferred.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm. May travel and work evenings and weekends as needed to meet donors or otherwise represent the University. Use of a personal vehicle for work-related local travel.
