Introduction to the University of St. Thomas

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Liturgy and Campus Ministry Operations is responsible for the daily operations of the UST
Chapel and assists with the coordination planning and execution of large-scale events for Campus Ministry. This
position will actively contribute towards furthering our Student Affairs Board of Trustee charges to strengthen
USTs (a) student success efforts and (b) Catholic mission and faith integration efforts. The Coordinator reports to
the Campus Chaplain and is appointed with the approval of the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean
of Students and the President of the University.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily operation of the UST chapel which includes but is not limited to:
Responsible for maintaining and updating lists of priests servers and liturgical ministers (including
sacristans lectors etc) and ensuring that all are scheduled properly for adequate daily and Sunday mass
coverage and that liturgical ministers are properly trained to perform their duties in consultation with the
Chaplain and other appropriate staff as needed;
Serve as the administrative leader for the Chapel which includes sacristy organization supply and
inventory management and working with all Chapel vendors for one time and repeat orders;
Assist in the coordination planning and execution of all internal and external liturgical celebrations
including prayer services reconciliation weddings funerals and memorials; liturgies may occur oncampus or off-campus depending on University needs;
Assist in the coordination planning and execution of large-scale campus liturgies. Examples include the
Mass of Holy Spirit Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas Feasting with the Saints Convocation and Orientation
masses fundraising masses etc. These will be planned in consultation with the Chaplain and other staff as
needed and as above may occur on-campus or at other locations based on needs;
Supervise student workers assigned to Campus Ministry including the liturgy intern office interns
liturgical music intern and other interns as relevant. Ensure students are scheduled properly for adequate
coverage students are properly trained to perform their duties provide students performance feedback and
address employee-related matters in consultation with the Chaplain Director of Campus Ministry and
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students as needed;
Planning and implementation of communications for the Chapel of St. Basil and Campus Ministry which
includes developing social media campaigns weekly Mass announcements curating Chapel signage and
posting on social media accounts;
Assist with the selection of the Campus Ministry leaders including active involvement with the Centralized
Leadership Process;
Work collaboratively with faculty staff and on-campus groups in order to engage students in Campus
Ministry activities;
Work alongside other Campus Ministry staff in planning and executing all student leadership-related
activities such as meetings retreats and training;
Work alongside other Campus Ministry staff in planning and execution of large-scale events for Campus
Ministry including but not limited to Chili cook-off the week-long Festival of St. Thomas Aquinas
Feasting with the Saints Opening Day etc;
Participate in various meetings that help support Campus Ministry goals and objectives;
Work collaboratively with other departments within Student Affairs in various efforts including Campus
Life activities;
Complete all administrative-related office work including maintaining the budget and proper
communication with co-workers.
Provide support to the Assistant Dean of Campus Life for preparation and management of budgets for the
Chapel;
Foster a community environment with opportunities for personal and academic growth and leadership
development by operating from a student development framework;
Participate in professional development through at least one of the following: University department inservice programs student affairs committees conference attendance and involvement in professional
associations enrollment in a masters or doctoral program;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chaplain Assistant Dean of Campus Life and Assistant Vice
President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students as needed.
Qualifications
Being a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and under no ecclesiastical restrictions is required
as is a familiarity with and willingness to support and advance the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church;
as such the candidate must demonstrate an ability and commitment to articulate the Universitys Catholic mission
and identity in an inviting and engaging manner;
Bachelors degree required; preference will be given to candidates with associated degrees (Education
Leadership Counseling Pastoral Ministry or similar fields of study.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in liturgical ministry Catholic student leadership
and/or ministry with high school or college aged students;
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple constituents.
Some experience supervising other employees is preferred.
Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook) required.
Effective organization skills and the abilities to effectively multi-task.
Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing.
This is a full-time year round benefit-eligible position. Regular evening work (2-3 times a week) and occasional
weekend work will be required.
