Role purpose
As our company expands we have created an exciting new opportunity for a 1st / 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join our UK team at Granta Park near Cambridge.
You will support the IT systems throughout the organisation. These include setup and maintenance of desktop computers our server environment as well as maintain our cyber security posture. You will work with a variety of teams based in the UK and US and look to maintain the excellent IT standards currently practiced at Bicycle.
Key responsibilities
- Help support the Corporate IT Team at Bicycle comprising all general day to day support activities.
- Support an internal helpdesk and triage tickets escalating as necessary.
- Assist with IT project work whether on-site or in cloud.
- Work across departments to deliver IT-driven solutions to empower scientific R&D.
- Work with enterprise security DR and data solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Providing routine desktop support to all staff including the Microsoft Office suite SharePoint online Microsoft Teams and Windows 10/11 operating systems.
- Setting up hardware and software for new staff being responsible for on and off boarding staff.
- Supporting and troubleshooting networking equipment and issues including wireless.
- Working closely with the IT Team Leader to meet corporate IT goals and continue developing and strengthening our cyber security posture.
- Work with existing Manager Service Providers in UK and US.
- Help manage current server environments.
This is a hybrid-based role with the expectations of at least 3 days onsite.
We are recruiting for a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) until the end of 2025.

Essential
- Demonstrable experience with:
- Office365

- Enterprise-grade networking
- Firewalls (Paolo Alto)
- SSLIPSEC VPNs
- Enterprise-grade backup systems
- Extensive Windows desktop/server support experience.
- Experience with enterprise-grade security platforms.
- Some experience of Linux/Unix systems and administration.
- An eye for detail
Desirable
- Experience of project delivery.
- Experience working under lab conditions.
