Job Description

Formlabs was started to make 3D printing much more accessible and easy to use for a range of professionals. The companys products cover Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology with an end-to-end system of printer hardware materials and software. It has now shipped more than 130000 professional 3D printers more than any other company in the world. Formlabs serves customers in every industry that makes plastic parts from consumer electronics to aerospace to dentistry.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedMaterials Operations Managerto lead and optimize operations at our Ohio-based manufacturing facility. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence fostering a culture of safety and quality and delivering strategic business goals. The Operations Manager will oversee key aspects of site management inventory production fulfillment personnel development goals performance and cross-functional collaboration with a strong focus on continuous improvement. This position is an exciting opportunity tomake a significant impact within the dynamic and growing field of 3D printing resin manufacturing.

The Job:

  • Lead and oversee daily operations including a total of roughly 35 managers supervisors leads and associates performing resin production fulfillment and logistics activities.
  • Actively drive and exemplify a strong culture of operational excellence safety quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ownership of and accountability for operations goals metrics and initiatives.
  • Monitor and control costs to ensure adherence to budget targets and overall financial efficiency.
  • Develop and implement profit-driven long-term site strategies with a focus on risk mitigation innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster the growth and development of employees and their skills to meet evolving site and business requirements in line with the companys expansion goals.
  • Utilize lean management tools to achieve sustainable and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with R&D QC and Engineering teams to align product development plans and resource requirements with business objectives and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Fulfillment Procurement and Finance teams to optimize production planning inventory and on-time delivery of high-quality products to customers.
  • Interface with company leadership to report site performance discuss roadmap projects and resolve any site needs requiring leadership or Headquarters intervention.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support innovation and production efficiency within the 3D printing resin manufacturing process.

You:

  • Degree in engineering operations or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior production/manufacturing role.
  • Proven track record in implementing cultural and operational change initiatives.
  • Experience with lean management practices and continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with automation equipment and operational enterprise systems (MES ERP QMS etc).

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in chemical engineering and/or at-scale production
  • Proven ability to align and implement business strategies effectively across multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated success in driving cultural transformation and organizational change.
  • Familiarity with safety systems such as OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) or equivalent.
