Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law preserve peace protect the people reduce fear and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police and by pioneering strategic innovation.

Chief of Patrol Fiscal Analysis Unit as a whole handles the OTPS Budget for all Patrol Services Bureau and the Overtime Budget for each patrol command citywide the unit also handles procurements for City Council and Grant Funding. In addition the unit handles contracts for car wash and tire repair contracts and prisoner meal contracts for patrol commands Citywide. As well as the 460 Fund which funds Underage drinking Marijuana Operations Cash for Guns and CIF Funding managed by the bookkeeper.

The Fiscal Analysis is seeking a qualified candidate for the position Bookkeeper II. The duties and responsibilities for the position are maintaining general books of accounts and bookkeeping the Chief of Patrols revolving checking account for payment of PSBs confidential expenditures. Utilizing computerized financial systems for record keeping as well as examining invoices receiving reports and vouchers and expense reports. Assisting in the disbursement of funds to PSB subunits for operational expenses and assisting in NYC purchase documents. The bookkeepers responsibilities are maintaining the Patrol Services Bureaus Confidential Accounts and monitoring funding needs for the Cash for Guns Program Underage Drinking/Fireworks Initiative and PSB investigation Units Confidential expenses.

HOURS/ SHIFT:
Monday to Friday 0900-1700

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

In compliance with Federal Law all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Qualifications :

(1) Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university accredited by regional national professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) including 6 credits in accounting; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience; or
(3) A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. College education may be substituted for experience in 2 above on the basis that 15 semester credits from an accredited college may be substituted for each year of required experience. However all candidates must have a high school diploma or its educational equivalent and either 6 semester credits in accounting from an accredited college or 6 months of experience as described in 2 above.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III individuals must have in addition to meeting the minimum requirements at least one year of experience as a Bookkeeper (40526) or at least four years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience.
