The Transportation Assistant is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents staff and volunteers to desired destination.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Transports residents to doctors appointments and other activities
- May be requested to run errands or perform other related activities
- Conducts safety checklist according to policy
- Maintains vehicles in clean condition
- Reports observations of structural equipment and furniture defects/malfunctioning to appropriate personnel
- Maintains confidentiality of necessary information
- Handles unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties
- Follows all appropriate safety and security guidelines procedures and protocol for residents in the Special Care Unit
- Maintains appropriate effective communication with residents and with residents family or other significant relationships
- Provides all care treatment and services with appropriate dementia care protocols
- Performs all other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities
- Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
- Experience: Six (6) months or more of related experience
- Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills
- Certifications & Licenses: Must possess a valid drivers license; Must obtain and maintain mandatory state/federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
- Other Requirements: Previous commercial drivers experience preferred; Must be able to read write understand and speak the English language; Must be able to work with residents community staff and physician office personnel; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
