Scope: The Operations & Events Coordinator is responsible for managing office and administrative operations for Oregon Chapter staff and volunteer leaders statewide. The Operations & Events Coordinator oversees the functioning of the Portland office; coordinates logistics and planning for in-person events; records donations deposits money and coordinates with the Chapter Director and Chapter Treasurer on financial matters; purchases and maintains supplies and equipment; supports staff and volunteers with scheduling event planning and best practices for managing administrative tasks. The Operations & Events Coordinator role is essential to the success of Oregon Chapter campaigns operations events and overall organizational wellbeing.
Job activities include but are not limited to:
Supports statewide facilities and event planning needs. Provides administrative support for facilities used by staff and volunteers in regions of the state beyond Portland. Assist staff and volunteers with event venue rentals event planning and shared use agreements with partner nonprofit organizations.
Oversees Portland office operations. Coordinates reception mail systems filing purchasing and maintaining office supplies and equipment maintaining materials inventory and ensuring office space and property is accessible functional and usable for staff volunteers and chapter events.
Manages inquiries and informational requests. Directs phone and email inquiries concerning membership outings events and environmental issues from members volunteers and the general public to appropriate staff and volunteer leaders for response. Provides exemplary customer service for the Chapter.
Manages office volunteers. Coordinates trains and oversees volunteers to host events at Oregon Chapter offices and participate in office administration projects.
Supports fundraising events and operations. Processes donations and other monies weekly. Organizes at least four in-person volunteer events per year to support donor solicitations and thank-yous.
Supports financial administration. Works with the Chapter Director to understand sources of funding and administrative pathways for reimbursement properly tracking income and expenses.
Supports scheduling and workflow. Assists staff and volunteer leaders with scheduling operations and event planning within the organization. Researches best practices for managing heavy email phone and messaging traffic and provides expertise to staff and volunteers on managing administrative workloads.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position is $52000 annually for 30 hours/week.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union.

This is a category 6 non-exempt represented position.
