Winemaker - Barossa
We have a rare opportunity for a winemaker to join our winemaking team based at our state-of-the-art winery in the Barossa Valley
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Winemaker this role will make key decisions during the winemaking process to produce wine to specification and style whilst maximising quality from grapes through to bottle.
- Management of a portfolio of wines across wine styles quality levels and brands as requiredthat are to be crafted and maintained to the highest quality standards.
- Quality assurance of all responsible wines through periodic organoleptic and chemical monitoring to ensure suitable style and quality is maintained.
- Accurate and timely cellar note generation
- Timely preparation of all bottling wines to meet the scheduled production dates. Ensuring wines are compliant and in-spec
- Timely and accurate use of planning tools for efficient interaction with the cellar and planning teams.
- Approval of all wine labels for responsible products in adherence to all legal labelling requirements.
- Participate and be actively involved in tastings
- Participation in brand sales and public relations events specific to select wines and brands as determined by senior winemaking in conjunction with brand teams.
About you
With aBachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science/Oenology) or equivalent you will have proven experience in operational winemaking.
- Proven Organoleptic assessment and communication of relevant attributes for wines and grapes.
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills
- Ability to work in fast pace operational environments
- An eye for innovation and new ideas
