The Opportunity

Red River Co-op invites applications for the position of Human Resources Administrator to join our HR division at our Home Office in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Reporting to the Senior Director Human Resources the Human Resources Administrator is responsible for providing high quality and confidential HR administrative support to the retail. The HR Administrator acts as the first line of HR support for employees by answering e-mails and phone calls of a general inquiry nature and reviewing and resolving (or re-assigning) HR tickets submitted electronically. They are responsible for maintaining accurate and complete employee records and providing support to the rest of the HR team on a variety of transactional items.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Ensure employee records are accurate up to date and complete.
  • Act as the department Go To in all HR Information System (HRIS) issues including initial setup of new hire employee changes and movement leaves of absence and terminations.
  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting positions on applicant tracking system and external job boards booking interviews and conducting reference checks.
  • Prepare and distribute letters to employees as required.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing scanning and sending out correspondence.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports as required as well as ad hoc reports.
  • Support the Payroll Administrator in time and attendance matters including timecard review and payroll processing. Provide relief coverage in the Payroll Admins absence.
  • Monitor benefits eligibilities and work with payroll and benefits providers to ensure coverage is activated and deductions are being taken.

  • You are highly computer literate with a solid command of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with HR software such as Kronos and Oracle is advantageous.
  • You are organized and diligent and can manage a heavy workload with conflicting priorities.
  • You are trustworthy and capable of operating in a highly confidential environment.
  • You have excellent communication skills. You can provide clear verbal instruction and explanation both in person and over the phone. You write in a clear and concise manner. Your written work is well-edited (grammar spelling and formatting) and professional.
  • Formal education in human resources is an asset but is not required.
