For over 90 years Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.
Each and everyday girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need tothey have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that help improve decision-making skills.
The Program Director is directly responsible for managing operations and programs for the assigned Boys & Girls Club with primary concern for program development and implementation staff development supervision of assigned staff and program volunteers and resource management including budget and facilities. Essential Functions:
- Manage day-to-day program operations for the club.
- Interpret and maintain compliance with current state licensing requirements for school age child care centers; address non-compliance issues as needed.
- Control expenditures against assigned budgets; recommend income and expense projections; assist with the financial development of the child care program.
- Lead staff in long and short-range program planning to ensure a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities which reflect Boys & Girls Clubs five core program areas and Youth Development Strategy for children in K through 8th grade; may include teen programming.
- Consistently incorporate high yield learning activities in all youth development programsand utilizing the BGCA tool kit and other curriculum resources to provide fun engaging and interactive activities for all children.
- Planning and preparation for before and after care curriculum as well as staff and transportation schedules.
- Collaborate with outside community agencies for enhanced childcare programming opportunities including workshops around preventative health and other broader community topics/resources.
- Ensure safe implementation of all youth development activities. This involves but is not limited to: condition of equipment and facilities; age-appropriateness; ability levels; weather; appropriate use of equipment and supplies; and supervision.
- Directly supervise children and youth within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and in compliance with applicable state licensing and Delaware Stars regulations.
- Maintain appropriate supportive and positive interaction with Club members; establish and maintain behavioral boundaries per Boys & Girls Club guidance and supervision policies and guidelines.
- Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians concerning programs schedules developmental progress (victories and concerns) payment issues etc.
- Oversee and support the teen program.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with volunteers staff members parents school faculty and administrators BGCDE administrators and Club professionals community leaders and supporters.
- Within established organizational guidelines develop and maintain systems for accurately tracking attendance payments school grades medical issues and other needed information.
- At all times present yourself as a positive role model for youth.
- Within guidelines established by the Executive Director the Program Director will recruit hire train and supervise staff and volunteers as needed; ensure that child care staff members meet qualifications and ongoing training requirements per state licensing regulations.
- Contribute toward development of a positive identity and strong presence for the Boys & Girls Clubs in the community.
- Support fundraising efforts of the Unit Board and the statewide organization.
- Assume other tasks assignments and responsibilities as needed or directed.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices related to:
- Management of Boys & Girls Club or similar operations.
- Resource management financial and budget management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office ( Word Excel PPT) Adobe and Outlook
- Proficiency in various social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram and virtual meetings such as web and video conferencing
- Recruitment selection development management and evaluation of staff
- Program planning development implementation and evaluation.
- Developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships and public relations
- Developmental stages of youth.
- OCCL and DE Star regulations and standards.
Educational Requirement: Candidate must be able to meet State of Delaware requirements for School Age Site Coordinator: - Twenty years of age or older A four-year degree from an accredited college including a minimum of twelve(12)credit hours of child development or early childhood education and one(1)year of experience working with children in a group settingOR
- An associate degree in a field related to child development early childhood education psychology social work special education elementary education nursing or any health field including a minimum of twelve(12)credit hours of child development or early childhood education and eighteen(18)months of experience working with children in a group settingOR
- A child development associate credential and twenty-four(24)months of experience working with children in a group settingOR
- A high school degree and twelve(12)credit hours of child development or early childhood education from an accredited college and thirty-six(36)months of experience of working with children in a group setting.
- Preferably candidate is able to meet State of Delaware requirements for School Age Administrator
Working Conditions: The majority of the work time is split between an office and Club setting. Environmental and working conditions vary from indoors to outdoors; various meeting locations in and out of the Club; occasional statewide travel (e.g. training). Occasional weekend work is required. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: - Be comfortable working with children K-8 and in varying levels of physical activity.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Frequently lifts carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.
- Typically bends stoops walks and sometimes runs on a regular basis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day.
- Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartiality.
- High energy comfort with multi-tasking able to work with numerous deadlines.
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00am-6:00p.m. with flexibility to work split shift based upon business needs.
