Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and proactive Systems Administrator to manage and support development (sandbox) environments. This individual will be a key player in enabling our developers by ensuring environments are provisioned stable secure and performant. This is a hands-on technical role that involves building maintaining and automating infrastructure in both on-prem and cloud environments (VMware & AWS) supporting Windows-based enterprise applications and fielding developer support requests.

Key Responsibilities:
Environment Management & Developer Support
Key Responsibilities:
Environment Management & Developer Support
- Field manage and prioritize requests from developers for new development environments.
- Triage troubleshoot and resolve issues with development/sandbox environments.
- Act as a liaison between development teams and infrastructure for environment needs.
- Monitor usage performance and resource consumption across environments.
System Administration
- Build and decommission Windows and Linux-based servers.
- Install configure monitor and maintain OS and applications (IIS Active Directory IBM WebSphere RedHat OpenShift IBM Maximo Application Suite).
- Apply system and application updates patches and hotfixes regularly.
- Perform virtual machine provisioning and management using VMware and AWS.
- Ensure proper monitoring and alerting systems are in place and effective.
- Update and troubleshoot Dockerfiles.
Backup Recovery and DR
- Implement test and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor backup jobs and ensure data recovery integrity.
- Keep DR documentation and policies up to date.
Automation & Scripting
- Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate infrastructure management.
Other Duties
- Coordinate changes with internal teams and ensure minimal disruption.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and system optimization initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in IT or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 1-3 years of Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory experience
- 1-3 years of VMWare experience
- 1-3 years of backup and recovery experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external teams and customers
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Proficient knowledge of Windows server operating systems and Active Directory
- Proficient with Podman and Docker
- Ability to update and troubleshoot Dockerfiles
- Knowledge of IBM WebSphere and/or Maximo a plus
- Good analytical problem solving and decision-making skills
