Our legal team provides commercially focused legal support across the operational and functional divisions of the Pact business on a broad range of subject matters.
Senior Legal Counsel partner closely with all areas of our business and external advisors and will work as part of a small dynamic and supportive team of in-house lawyers who are committed to business improvement and innovation.
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary your role sits within the group structure and as such is part of a legal team with a global remit.
You will either directly or with the support of external lawyers be responsible for negotiating contracts with new and existing customers and suppliers managing disputes providing ad-hoc legal advice on a wide variety of subjects and assisting the preparation of transaction documentation for mergers and acquisitions joint ventures and corporate projects. You will also be responsible for helping to establish a pro-active approach to legal risk and compliance across the business.
Your key responsibilities will be to support and advise in the following areas;
- Commercial Contracting
- General legal advice
- Dispute resolution
- Regulatory support and advice
- Project and M&A
- Legal continuous improvement
- drafting negotiating finalising and implementing a range of commercial arrangements such as supply and procurement agreements; capital works projects; licence arrangements;
- providing advice on how best to structure commercial relationships with Pacts counterparties and the benefits and risks of certain contractual positions.
- managing insurance claim disputes.
Your skills and experience
- Prior experience (8 years) in general commercial law in a private practice or in house environment;
- Experience in FMCG property competition dispute resolution IP OHS HR/IR or IT would be advantageous but not essential;
- Experience in advising on legal matters in Asia would be advantageous but not essential;
- Excellent oral and written communication with ability to adjust style appropriate to the audience;
- Ability to quickly form working relationships and gain credibility with senior management;
- Ability to work autonomously and with the support of other members of the legal team as required;
- Ability to appreciate the strategic and commercial implications of decisions and the impact on the business;
- Innovative enthusiastic and versatile with a proactive problem-solving approach to practice; and
- Professionalism integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality is essential..
Qualifications :
- Tertiary qualifications in law
- Current Australian practising certificate
- 8 years PQE (or other appropriate experience dependent on circumstances)
