JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as the chief educational leader of an Elementary school by providing effective instructional leadership and leading activities that contribute to the effectiveness of the total educational program. Assists the district to achieve its mission and related goals and serves as an example of an exceptional professional educator for all students and staff. Works collaboratively to provide an educational climate that fosters learning as a lifelong process. Uses leadership supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of all staff members. Understands and puts into practice the McRel Balanced Leadership Framework as a guide to leading continuous improvement for the purpose of improving student achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Idaho Education Credential endorsed as Principal - required
- At least three (3) years of successful classroom teaching - required
- At least two (3) years of experience as a School Principal - required
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational Leadership
- Align leadership behaviors to improving student achievement through the use of researched best practices for school administrators.
- Prioritize time to instructionally lead the school through the school improvement process.
- Build collaborative teams within the school and involve teachers and staff members in the decision-making process.
- Build collaborative partnerships with elementary middle and high school principals families and community patrons.
- Actively participate in the district improvement process and proactively work collaboratively with administrative colleagues in order to produce synergistic results. Participate in administrative meetings and other meetings as are required or appropriate.
- Keep abreast of developments in elementary school curriculum and instruction and provide leadership in determining the appropriateness of incorporating developments/trends into the schools educational program.
- Provide leadership for the planning development and implementation of the elementary school curriculum.
Student Achievement
- Establish high expectations for student achievement that are directly communicated to students families and educators.
- Coordinate and supervise the schools academic programs to best meet all students needs.
- Supervise the planning development implementation and evaluation of the instructional programs and materials to meet all students needs.
- Utilize assessment results in analyzing program effectiveness and identifying areas needing improvement.
Supervision and Recruitment of Staff
- Participate in the recruiting screening selecting training assigning and evaluating of the schools staff.
- Orient newly assigned staff members and assist in their educational development.
- Supervise and evaluate classroom instruction.
- Provide available accommodations for related service providers and assist in their supervision.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work with the district and community to identify and develop educational needs and build collaborative partnerships with external school stakeholders.
- Work with school leadership teams and protect time for regular school leadership meetings that focus on school improvement.
- Create a positive school climate through open communication.
- Keep the Superintendent informed of the schools activities and concerns.
- Work with the Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent on district programs and related problems.
- Foster collaborative work with the School Leadership Team to collectively and continuously improve student achievement.
- Establish a parent advisory team focused on improving student achievement.
- Be available for conferences with parents and assist teachers in parent-teacher conferences.
School Management
- Implement Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school; inform teachers of such policies and carry out duties as prescribed by district administration and the School Board.
- Supervise the preparation of reports records lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the schools administration including all financial and accounting functions and library activities.
- Participate in the administering of the schools budgeted allocations.
- Supervise building administrators to ensure that they establish and carry out a policy of discipline that will allow the school to function smoothly and safely.
- Work with students parents staff and others in a positive proactive and encouraging manner.
Other Responsibilities

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
