Peckham Inc. - Vocational Services Specialist
SUMMARY
The Vocational Services Specialist provides crisis management vocational services case management and human resources support to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. This position provides vocational counseling and coaching to team members to assist them in maintaining employment and providing applicable community resource referrals. The Vocational Services Specialist also provides consultation to Peckham staff to maximize the quality of on-site vocational rehabilitation services.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide intensive crisis intervention support and counseling for participants as needed and make recommendations for needed interventions to promote vocational success
- Provide person-centered vocational support to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment
- Deliver one-on-one counseling coaching crisis intervention and/or training with program participants when needed and/or requested
- Work to identify strategies to help team member work through everyday crisis and workplace accommodations for program participants to assist them in maximizing their vocational success
- Process program-specific intake documents and maintain electronic case files for program participants
- Conduct orientation sessions for new participants
- Provide person-centered case management services to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment
- Assist program participants in developing an individualized program plan in consideration of their vocational goals strengths interests functional limitations and potential utilization of assistive technology and other job accommodations
- Work to identify strategies and appropriate assistive technology solutions for programparticipants to assist them in maximizing their vocational success
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process initial intake documents; Develop and maintain electronic case files
- Provide human resources support to program participants including new hire orientation FMLA management interactive process for accommodations and support with corrective action as needed
- Communicate with community agencies and provide information about community resources to enhance support services for program participants
- Work with an interdepartmental team to monitor participants progress and enhance the quality of services provided
- Research and build resources and team knowledge to help Team Members navigate community resources and internal resources so they can develop independence and self-sustainability
- Clearly and accurately document in case files
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner
- May attend community and Peckham events throughout the year
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Assist in the training of people with disabilities as needed
- Promote Peckhams vision values and services with the highest integrity and ethics to all customers and stakeholders
- Miscellaneous related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MIMIMUM QUALFICIATIONS
- Bachelors degree
- Ability to work through everyday crisis management with team members
- Ability to understand both the needs of the business line and the needs of the individual on your caseload
- Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy cultural diversity in the workplace
- Ability to research and build resources through community partners and Peckham programs
- This position requires passing and maintaining federal and state security background checks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-year related experience in case management
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Past experience providing clinical support
