The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Cinematography beginning August 2025. This temporary one-year (with the possibility of renewal) full-time non-tenure-track position requires position requires an MFA in Film Production or other terminal degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field at the time of appointment.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory intermediate and advanced undergraduate courses in the field of cinematography and performing service appropriate to the position including participation in shared governance. Courses may include topics in cinematography camera lighting color grading film appreciation film studies and more based on the portfolio of the preferred candidate. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students in the program and taking part in recruiting activities.

The Department of Theatre & Film currently enrolls 120 majors with 20 full time faculty and offers a BFA in Film Production BA in Theatre Arts and BFA in Theatre Arts emphases in Acting for Stage & Screen and Design & Theatre Production.
