Job Description

Special Education Teacher - (0.5 FTE)

This is a grant-funded position and wil be located at Sacred Heart School in Weymouth.

We educate over 5600 students in 11 school buildings including Weymouth Early Childhood Center eight elementary schools (grades K-5) Chapman Middle School (grades 6-8) and Weymouth High School (Grades 9-12). Our highly qualified educators and staff members work to provide personalized attention and support to ensure that every student thrives.

This is a grant-funded position and will be located at Sacred Heart School in Weymouth.

  • Must be licensed as a Special Education teacher - Moderate Disabilities with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • SEI Endorsement Required
  • Must hold a bachelors degree or higher.
  • Experience with multi-sensory explicit phonics instruction (OG Wilson preferred)

General Duties:

Guides andevaluatesthe learning experience of the students in her/his classesandaccepts responsibility for the activities ofstudentswithin her/his purview within the school building oron the school grounds.

Specific Duties:

  • Provides differentiated curriculum instruction to students particularly for reading instruction
  • Provides multisensory explicit phonics instruction
  • Participates in curriculum planning and professional development activities as applicable to the student programming
  • Keeps data prepares records and reportsasrequired for student progress reporting
  • Participates in IEP meetings as invited
  • Attends faulty meetings as requested by the building administration
  • Executes the SchoolCommitteepolicy.
