Job Description

Purpose Statement

The job of Warehouse & Distribution Lead - District is done for the purpose/s of administering warehouse operations for the District ordering items to maintain required inventory levels; performing warehousing duties and loading and unloading orders stocking inventory; ensuring specifications quantity and quality of orders are correct; verifying stock and identifying losses; maintaining and organizing warehouse layout; transporting orders over designated and on-demand routes; ensuring safe operation of vehicles.

This job reports to Purchasing Director.

Essential Functions

  • Loads orders for supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of preparing orders for transport.
  • Maintains perpetual inventory for the purpose of ensuring required items are available as needed.
  • Maintains warehouse in a safe and sanitary condition for the purpose of ensuring a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Maintains vehicles and warehouse equipment (e.g. cleaning inspecting fueling oil tire pressure etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Orders items for the purpose of providing requisitioned items and/or refilling to inventory levels.
  • Receives purchased supplies and equipment for the purpose of ensuring specifications quantity and quality of orders are correct and inspecting for damage.
  • Researches discrepancies on orders and/or invoices (e.g. overages shortages etc.) for the purpose of correcting errors returning damaged items to vendors and/or ensuring proper credit.
  • Responds to inquiries of staff for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the status of orders and/or deliveries.
  • Stocks equipment materials and supplies for the purpose of maintaining required inventory levels that will ensure availability of items when requested and rotation of stock to ensure optimum usage.
  • Stores supplies and equipment in warehouse for the purpose of ensuring storage in accordance with federal state and health department standards.
  • Transports warehouse shipments to requesting site (e.g. supplies equipment etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary items required for the provision of classroom and department operations throughout the District.
  • Unloads deliveries for the purpose of distributing shipment to assigned site locations.

Other Functions

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing jobconditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in warehouse operations; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: basic computer use; inventory control.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; physical stamina; working under time constraints; and ability to read write and communicate clearly in English.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling frequent climbing and balancing significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting 40% walking and 40% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience: Job related experience is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Drivers License & Evidence of Insurability Continuing Educ. / Training

Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

This is a 12-month position.
