Summary: Assists Mortgage Loan Officer by receiving loan applications and interviewing customers to initiate the loan application and approval process. They will also counsel borrowers who do not qualify for a loan.
Responsibilities
- Obtain Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) licensing.
- Provides assistance to the Loan Officer including typing reports and forms pipeline management following up with borrowers for necessary documentation.
- Assists with keying loans into the mortgage system and uploading files to MLOPS.
- Collects necessary documentation from borrowers to complete application package.
- Handles HELOC or Bank ARM closings in or out of the branch if needed.
- Handles collection of delinquent loans.
- Identifies the need for orders and has executed change in terms agreements and various servicing of loan customers. Performs variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
- Uses office computers for data input and other activities and orders credit reports.
- Cross-markets financial institution products and services as appropriate.
- Assists other departments on a temporary basis as needed during peak hours.
- Attends mandatory training and classes offered by the financial institution.
- Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six Months to one year of experience in an office environment
- Successful completion of in-house training program (if applicable) or approved outside training program.
- Good understanding of financial institution products and services
- Good understanding of computer spreadsheet and word processing programs i.e. Microsoft product suite Excel Word etc.
- One year of experience working as a mortgage loan assistant loan processor or equivalent
- General understanding of mortgage loan products (Conventional FHA VA USDA Jumbo)
