Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction in Spanish to children with disabilities based on their Individual Education Program (IEP).
  • Develop objectives and timelines appropriate to each students needs as indicated in their IEP.
  • Plan and implement engaging instruction in a self-contained setting aligned with the curriculum.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain regular communication with parents staff and administrators.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to implement best practices.
  • Develop lesson plans that demonstrate important concepts and skills based on the districts curriculum.
  • Incorporate best practice instructional strategies into lesson plans for each subject matter.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional resources to create engaging and differentiated activities.
  • Develop implement and monitor IEPs tailored to each students academic and social/emotional needs.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Design student assessments aligned with learning outcomes and monitor progress.
  • Prepare for IEP meetings by updating relevant sections of the IEP according to deadlines.
  • Promote positive relationships with students and maximize instructional time.
  • Enhance the learning environment by arranging the classroom and utilizing technology.
  • Manage classroom behavior by communicating clear expectations and responding appropriately.
Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with special education (LBSI) and bilingual (BSPA) endorsements.
  • Candidates who have passed the state TLP Spanish test and hold an ELS (TBE) license may be considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications.
  • Flexible creative and child-centered approach.
  • Ability to assess student learning and modify instruction as needed.
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data for instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and varied teaching methods.
  • Strong knowledge of WIDA and Common Core State Standards.
  • Ability to work with the special education coordinator for IEP meetings.
  • Fluency in speaking reading and writing Spanish.
