Medtronic is looking for a dynamic and strategic Principal Communications Generalist to join the Corporate Communications team. In this role you will support global communications for our Human Resources programs and initiatives. As a key member of the HR Communications team you will be responsible for managing the strategic direction development and effective execution of the communications strategy in areas such as performance management compensation and rewards benefits employee experience and broader HR priorities.

This role reports to the Director Corporate Communications HR Communications.

Success in this role requires a proactive creative approach and the ability to assess communications opportunities understand different audiences and engage stakeholders at all levels. A Day in the Life

  • Develops and executes communications strategies supporting key HR programs with a focus on performance management rewards and recognition

  • Shapes messages activates communications channels and builds strategic plans to inform motivate and recognize global audiences

  • Provides strategic counsel and coaching to leaders to strengthen employee communications and engagement

  • Partners with Corporate Communications Public Relations and HR teams to proactively advance the Medtronic brand for current and prospective employees

  • Supports senior leadership in amplifying thought leadership as well as communicating change initiatives policies and company updates to employees

  • Plans writes and edits content that educates persuades and inspires internal audience to embrace change or understand the evolving work environment

  • Builds a motivating culture through compelling consistent communications aligned to the Medtronic Mission

  • Oversees implementation of internal communications activities and programs aligned to the Mission and business strategy

  • Measures communications effectiveness and drives continuous improvement of communications processes


Must Haves

  • Bachelors degree and 7 years of progressive responsibility in the communications field in either a corporate environment or agency or advanced degree and 5 years of experience

  • Experience supporting HR communications

Nice to Have

  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills essential

  • Robust storytelling capabilities

  • Excellent stakeholder management and strategic communications counseling skills

  • Solid project and time management skills; must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and shift focus adeptly

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization

  • Bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations or other associated field of study; post-graduate or professional degree

  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information

  • Ability to engage brief and manage third-party vendors

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite experience with Eloqua or other eMarketing platforms a plus

Onsite

Were working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.

This role is ideally based in Minneapolis MN but open to candidates who can work onsite at other major Medtronic locations in the US.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110400.00 - $165600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20 hours per week: Health Dental and vision insuranceHealth Savings AccountHealthcare Flexible Spending AccountLife insurance Long-term disability leaveDependent daycare spending accountTuition assistance/reimbursement andSimple Steps (global well-being program).
