JOB TITLE: Card Specialist
TERM: 12 months
CLIENT LOCATION: Nairobi Kenya
DIVISION: Payments- Card Business
REPORTS TO: Group Head of Cards
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience in the card payments industry
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS**: Extensive experience in card business within a banking environment in Kenya/East Africa; Strong technical skills card processing systems; English language required
PURPOSE OF JOB
The specialist role involves overseeing card product development managing vendor relationships and ensuring seamless integration of card processing systems. The resource will play a crucial role in enhancing the banks card business operations and driving product innovation. The resource will play a critical role in supporting the current card issuing team and will augment their capacity.
TASKS
Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Product Development:
- Lead card product development initiatives
- Work with the teams to refine product CVP
- Support successful launch of new card products
Technical Support:
- Manage/support discussions with vendors including card management system switches and processors
- Provide technical support and expertise in card applications/processing systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize card business processes
Operational Management:
- Support to resolve operational issues related to the card business.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards where relevant.
Portfolio Growth:
- Support card activation usage and retention programs to optimize customer engagement.
- Design and execute strategic / tactical plans to enhance profitability of all Cards.
- Monitor and analyse card business performance metrics
Additional Activities:
- Perform any other activities relevant to the successful running of the card business.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve services.
KPIs
- Successful launch of new card products within budget and timelines.
- Improved vendor management and performance.
- Enhanced efficiency in card operations.
- Support achievement of targeted card business growth metrics.
- Compliance with regulatory standards where relevant
Knowledge and Experience
- Education: Bachelors degree masters degree holder is preferred
- Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in the card payments industry
- Experience in managing teams of multi-function in the cards business
- Ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Deep understanding of bank business operations
- Knowledge of local banking regulations and standards
