The Middletown Public School District is looking for a visionary Assistant Superintendent of
Teaching and Learning to lead our diverse public school system in delivering exceptional

Broad Function:
This position is responsible for the overall management of Division of Teaching and Learning. In addition this position is
responsible for leading the development and implementation of a strategic and data driven curriculum for all teaching
departments.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops and implements a forward-thinking educational vision aligned with district goals and student needs.
2. Promotes innovative teaching practices that foster critical thinking creativity and inclusivity.
3. Engages stakeholders to build consensus and advance a shared commitment to academic excellence.
4. Analyzes student performance data to identify trends strengths and areas for improvement.
5. Designs and refines curriculum frameworks that align with state standards and evidence-based practices.
6. Integrates technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
7. Supervises and supports principals instructional coaches and curriculum coordinators to ensure high-quality
instruction.
8. Facilitates professional development programs that empower educators to meet diverse student needs.
9. Evaluates staff performance providing constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.
10. Collaborates with the Superintendent and leadership team to shape district-wide strategic initiatives.
11. Advocates for policies and resources that support equitable access to high-quality education.
12. Represents the district in community partnerships fostering relationships to enhance educational opportunities.
13. Routinely visits schools; teachers for the purpose of supporting teaching staff and promoting consistent curriculum
practices district-wide.
14. Organizes and coordinates District Data Team curriculum and other committees that include parents community
members and other professional staff.
15. Provides for the organization of ad hoc committees to study specific instructional problems.
16. Interprets achievement data to the leadership team and other educational staff and serves as the District Test
Coordinator.
17. Proactively seeks out feedback from teachers to discuss instructional concerns with members of the central
administrative and leadership team.
18. Provides leadership in developing research designs to assess programs effectiveness.
19. Identifies and supports partnerships with SDE local colleges universities and RESCs to support professional
development and training for teachers and administrators.
20. Participates in New Teacher Orientation in partnership with the TEAM Facilitator and Curriculum Leadership team
to plan and organize professional learning for teachers and administrators new to the district.
Qualifications Experience and Job Requirements:
Minimum Education - Masters degree in education educational leadership or related field required.
Minimum Work Experience - Ten years of teaching experience required with three years in a district leadership position
required. Proven expertise in data analysis and evidence-based instructional practices required.
Strong communication collaboration and leadership skills required.
Required Licenses/Certifications -Valid State teaching certification and a valid 092 certification required.
Valid State Drivers license required.
