The Director of Employer Engagement is an essential leadership role within Willamette Universitys Department of Career Initiatives. Focuses on initiatives designed to strengthen strategic employer relations to raise awareness about the university within industry and to enhance the quantity and quality of career-aligned experiential learning opportunities.

In partnership with the Executive Director the Director will collaborate with Alumni Relations Advancement and Enrollment Management to pursue University-wide employer relations efforts. Will work to strengthen partnerships with local national and international corporations designed to yield internships collaborative projects and other opportunities.

Position will maintain presence in Portland and Salem with frequent visits to off-site locations to facilitate relationship-building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Contributes to an integrated model of career support that allows for the unique needs and customized and tailored support across the university in alignment with the Universitys Strategic Plan.

  • Develops and communicates a strategic plan to develop and maintain existing employer partnerships. Visits current and prospective employers. Seeks general and exclusive job postings. Actively connects students and alumni to employers.

  • Plans organizes and executes industry site visits and information sessions for students with key employer partners and across a wide range of industries.

  • Utilizes Alumni Network to create opportunities for both students to connect with alumni engage in mentorship relationships and participate in educational programming.

  • Creates and leads a University-wide Committee/Task Force with the mission to build and maintain employer relationships and partnerships.

  • Pursues and negotiates preferred partnership agreements with employers that support admission employment and curriculum and program engagement.

  • Oversees and leads the collection and analysis of employment data as required for graduate and institutional accreditors. Shares outcome data with key constituents such as faculty alumni Board of Trustees university leadership parents and Enrollment Management.

  • Works with Institutional Research and Career Initiatives to provide regular feedback around student performance preparedness and employability based on formal evaluations and assessments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience in either career services recruiting human resources development or related field; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships and partnerships with external constituents ideally within recruiting or career development.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Applicants must demonstrate superior knowledge of hiring and employment practices across the for- profit non-profit and government sectors.

  • Creativity and ingenuity in establishing and maintaining relationships with employer partners. Comfortable and effective in building opportunities for networking.

  • Ability to collect and analyze outcomes data and report to constituents in accessible formats.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license or certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Business Higher Education Communications or related field.

  • Familiarity with career services platforms such as 12twenty Handshake or similar.

Typical Work Schedule

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Typical work is performed indoors in a normal office environment. This position is eligible for hybrid work at the managers discretion.

Salary: $75000
