Description

The DNV Approval Centre Europe (M-SA) within Maritime Ship Classification consists of six production departments located across three different locations (Gdynia Hamburg and Oslo (Hvik)). The main delivery from the Approval organization is approval verification and certification services for different maritime related assets in accordance with our rules.

We are now looking for dedicated engineers to strengthen our Propulsion & Steering section in Oslo and in Hamburg. You will be part of an engaged team driven by our technical competence and motivation to support our customers through consistent delivery of high-quality services.

The Propulsion & Steering section is an international and cross-location team with colleagues working in Oslo and Hamburg. As an approval engineer in our section you will become part of a highly qualified team focusing on ship machinery components and systems like propellers thrusters reduction gears steering gears shafting systems and couplings. We are also responsible for torsional vibration calculations whirling and shaft alignment analyses. Our section is working closely together with equipment manufacturers yards design offices and ship managers/owners. We are responsible for approval of ship machinery systems mainly against DNV classification rules and relevant international regulations. In the propulsion & steering approval team we continuously strive at being perceived as a highly competent resource unit by giving valued support to both external customers and our DNV stations worldwide.

Qualifications
  • Your background will typically be bachelor/masters in mechanical engineering and/or marine engineering (with machinery focus)
  • 2-5 years of experience from the maritime industry is preferable but we also encourage graduates of 2025 to apply
  • You are a self-driven team player passionate about solving challenges and creating results
  • Ability to build trust confidence and respect
  • Flexible service-minded and with a positive attitude
  • Honest open and committed to DNVs purpose visions and values
  • Good communication skills in English verbally and in writing
