Job Description
Solar Technician also known as a Solar Panel Installer or PV Technician is responsible for the installation maintenance and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Their tasks include surveying sites coordinating with stakeholders installing panels according to blueprints and codes and troubleshooting system malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities of a Solar Technician:
Installation:
Installing solar panels on residential or commercial roofs or building ground-mounted solar farms.
Maintenance:
Regularly inspecting cleaning and maintaining solar panels and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting:
Identifying and resolving issues with solar systems including electrical problems and system malfunctions.
Safety:
Adhering to strict safety regulations and protocols during installations and repairs.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of installations maintenance and repairs including site conditions and system performance.
Collaboration:
Working with engineers project managers and clients to optimize system design and performance.
Electrical Work:
Connecting solar panels to the electrical grid and working with electrical wiring.
Customer Communication:
Communicating effectively with clients explaining system functionality and addressing concerns.
Additional Skills and Requirements:
Technical Skills: Understanding of electrical systems solar panel technology and safety protocols.
Physical Abilities: Climbing ladders lifting heavy materials and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Analytical Skills: Diagnosing system problems and troubleshooting malfunctions.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate installation and maintenance procedures.
Communication Skills: Communicating effectively with clients project managers and team members.
Staying Updated: Keeping up-to-date with industry trends technologies and safety regulations.
