Description

The Opportunity:

You will use a variety of analytical methods and coding techniques including social computational approaches to analyse how emotional and identity-based narratives and visuals have been used to frame and reframe Europe and the European Union as a political entity and to communicate its role to the public over time.

This post is fixed-term from 1 November 2025 to 26 September 2026.

This post is part-time (21 hours per week). As this post is lab-based it requires on-campus working.

The salary for this post is at Grade UE07: 40497 to 48149 per annum pro-rata as part-time.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD (or equivalent training and work experience) in a relevant social science with training or skills relevant to the project on the neurophysiology of European identity.
  • Demonstrable research experience particularlycritical engagement in conceptual and theoretical work on argumentation identity and the role of a sense of belonging in political groups and regimes.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills supported by good IT skills and ability to adapt to digital research methods as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a collaborative collegiate approach and the ability to establish and maintain personal working relationships with colleagues.
