This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) role based in our new Soho Place office opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

The role

Were looking for a commercially-minded Legal Counsel to join the G-Research Legal team. This is a high-impact role providing strategic legal support across the business and helping to drive efficient pragmatic outcomes in a fast-paced technology-led environment.

Working closely with stakeholders across research engineering commercial operations and leadership youll deliver clear business-focused legal advice and play a key role in supporting the companys growth and innovation.

Youll be part of a collaborative legal function that partners closely with the business to enable decision-making and manage risk effectively.

Who are we looking for

We are looking for someone with a strong grounding in commercial law with the right mindset to be able to apply those principles in practice to everyday issues.

You will be proactive solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on enabling the firm while protecting legal interests.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive post qualification experience as a solicitor (in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction) including significant technology and commercial contracts experience

  • Strong experience in software procurement including software licensing SaaS AI tools and transactions involving resellers

  • Familiarity with hardware procurement and a range of commercial agreements including those for professional services training and marketing

  • Solid understanding of intellectual property protection particularly in a technology-driven environment

  • Working knowledge of data privacy law including its application to commercial contracts and vendor arrangements

  • Comfortable advising on contracts based on third-party paper balancing legal risk with business pragmatism

  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements

  • Experience working with or implementing legal technology and AI tools such as contract lifecycle management and AI-assisted document review would be desirable

  • Excellent academics to include a minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent
