Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Spectrum for Living a New Jersey not-for-profit organization is dedicated to helping adults with developmental disabilities reach their fullest potential. We provide quality housing and clinical services in state-of-the-art facilities and in the homes of families caring for a loved one with disabilities.
We are currently seeking aRecreation Assistantto join our team. This role supports and facilitates recreational activities that promote social development personal enjoyment and access to the broader community through inclusive and engaging experiences.
The Recreation Assistant will plan develop and implement recreational activities that align with each clients interests and socialization needs. They will coordinate and schedule community outings and events to promote community integration. Upon client admission and at least annually thereafter the Recreation Assistant will conduct recreation evaluations to assess individual needs and preferences. They will provide engaging programs that support physical activity leisure skill development and specialized training to help clients make effective use of their leisure time. The Recreation Assistant will also participate in Clinical Team Meetings to review and evaluate each residents recreational goals and progress while ensuring that there is always an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment available for recreational use.
In addition to these core responsibilities the Recreation Assistant is expected to support and uphold the mission and philosophy of Spectrum for Living. They will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to help achieve both client-centered and agency-wide goals.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid non-probationary NJ or NY Drivers License
Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Shift:12:00 PM 8:00 PM Days Off: Saturday & Sunday
