Position Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial and operational aspects of the organization ensuring its financial sustainability and operational effectiveness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the organizations annual budget in collaboration with the President and other relevant stakeholders
- Monitor and report on the organizations financial performance ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures including those related to purchasing billing and invoicing
- Manage the organizations relationships with vendors contractors and other external partners negotiating contracts and ensuring timely payments
- Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards to inform decision-making by the President and other stakeholders
- Provide strategic financial and operational advice to the President and Board of Directors
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations on matters concerning the organizations facilities and operations ensuring that they are well-maintained safe and compliant with relevant laws and regulations
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources on matters concerning to payroll and benefits ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee the organizations technology infrastructure and operations including hardware software and networks
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting business administration or a related field; Masters degree preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management and business operations preferably in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles and practices
- Experience with budget development and management financial reporting and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to inform decision-making
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
