Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Country MEAL (Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning) Manager to join our team in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The successful candidate will lead our MEAL efforts ensuring the effective implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems across all our programs in the country.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of MEAL strategies and systems for all country programs
  • Lead the design of monitoring and evaluation frameworks including logical frameworks theories of change and indicator plans
  • Manage the collection analysis and reporting of high-quality program data
  • Coordinate and conduct program evaluations assessments and research studies
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to program teams on MEAL best practices
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards for MEAL activities
  • Collaborate with senior management to use MEAL findings for strategic decision-making and program improvement
  • Manage and mentor the country MEAL team fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
  • Represent the organization in relevant MEAL forums and coordinate with external stakeholders

Qualifications :

  • A masters degree in International Development Statistics Social Sciences or a closely related field is imperative.
  • A minimum of 5 years of substantial experience in MEAL roles within international development or humanitarian contexts is essential.
  • Demonstrated mastery of monitoring and evaluation methodologies data analysis and visualization techniques is crucial.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities with a proven ability to effectively manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS or Stata coupled with expert-level skills in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Superior report writing and presentation abilities with a demonstrated capacity to articulate complex information with clarity and precision.
  • Extensive experience in team management and multi-stakeholder coordination is necessary.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the international development and humanitarian aid sector is vital.
  • In-depth understanding of donor reporting requirements (e.g. USAID DFID UN agencies) is critical.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail are paramount.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management abilities are essential.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Amharic or other local languages is highly advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake travel within Ethiopia as necessitated by the role are required


Additional Information :

Contract Type: National

Expected start date: September 1 2025.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa Ethiopia

Contract Duration: An initial one-year term with the possibility of extension based on performance and available budget.
