Job Description

This role will work within Oncology Early Development (OED)s operational analytics group to parse clean and curate data sets in order to be usable in AI/ML models. These data will be a combination of internal and external operational data and real world data. This data scientist will be tasked to evaluate various parameters for use in modeling. In addition the role will require creation of multiple AI/ML models to identify trends recommend operational paths forward and predict study timelines. This data scientist will work under the teams principal data scientist to engage various parts of the business including late stage operations to ensure no duplicative efforts are being performed and that the modeling is in line with company policies and guidelines. This role will use statistics business analytics data engineering and machine learning techniques to provide actionable insights that drive efficiency support decision-making and enhance products. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills a passion for data science and a desire to learn and grow in the field.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Connects with cross-functional teams to design work product and as an analytics consultant. Anticipates and identifies issues that could affect timelines or quality and develops options and solutions

Leads and helps establish the design principles and standards to ensure analytical work product is consistent across projects where appropriate and that user experience is optimized

In addition to standard statistical methods develops prototypes test methods and algorithms. Leverages emerging statistical methodologies ML and AI to drive innovative analytical solutions to create insights

Enables data-driven insights to support of clinical development continuum including precision medicine

Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) ICH Guidelines AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures

(SOPs) and to functional quality standards. Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations guidelines and policies related to clinical development

Identify business needs and support the creation of standard KPIs reports and statistical analyses;

Responsible for coaching and mentoring junior team members.

Work side by side with cross-functional teams as an analytics consultant to strategize on how analytics can help evaluate the progress of clinical trials as well as facilitate discussions around emerging risks; Applies machine learning techniques to validate assumptions and predict future behavior

 

Tools and skills you will use in this role:

Data Prep and Data science platforms like Dataiku or similar tools

Data Visualization Tools like Power BI Tableau and ThoughtSpot

Advanced SQL Python Spark and a broad array of ML frameworks

Cloud data warehouse Snowflake (Snow pipe Stored Procs Snowpark Dynamic Tables CTE)

JIRA CI/CD and Agile project methodology

Predictive and prescriptive models other statistical models and knowledge in data science in general

Cloud environment (AWS Snowflake Azure) with large datasets and with streaming data architectures.

Demonstrated knowledge of large language models and generative AI.

ML frameworks (Scikit-Learn NumPy SciPy Pandas XGBoost Tensorflow PyTorch MXNet LLM)


Qualifications :

Qualifications

Bachelors degree statistics analytics bioinformatics data science or equivalent field. Masters degree preferred

Must have 3-5 years of analytics-related experience in clinical research including demonstrated high-level analytics and leadership competencies.

Advanced career level proficiency in R Python or other statistical packages. Intermediate-level knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques

Expert proficiency with visualization tools like Spotfire Tableau or equivalent

Proven expertise with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques

Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in laymans terms

Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively

Experience working in Cloud Computing environments (e.g. AWS Azure etc) is preferred

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. Salary: $94000-$178500

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation holidays sick) medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
