TITLE:Technology Support Assistant

BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide Customer Service Desk support for the districts technology operation 25% of the time and diagnose and repair technology problems within area of expertise and assignment 75% of the time. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the technology department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered by users on the district network via telephone email or SMS remote access.
2. Initiate service technician calls as needed.
3. Maintain records of computer/network/telecommunications service work.
4. Maintain knowledge of current network system and application programs used in the district.
5. Use call-tracking systems for all technology needs (e.g. assistance repair purchase and action taken on request).
6. Seek additional skill development in use of technology in instruction and office management.
7. Diagnose and resolve problems encountered by computer audiovisual and technology equipment users within the District.
8. Deliver and set up technology including branding and tagging of technology equipment obtained by the district.
9. Install cabling peripheral equipment and/or software as needed.
10. Perform preventative maintenance on technology and telecommunication equipment as appropriate.
11. Prepare submit and maintain appropriate installation and service documents as determined by the District.
12. Provide information and support to the lead technician technology services specialist and/or director technology operations in identifying areas of customer need and distribution of the workload to ensure prompt and courteous service to district users.
13. Perform prompt courteous service to all district technology users.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. High School Diploma HiSet or GED
2. Three years of experience supporting computer networks
3. IT Support Certification/Licensure or 5 years of technical support experience on microcomputer networks operating systems and hardware
Desired:
1. A certification Network Plus certification or MOUS certification
2. Working knowledge of ERP/SIS systems
3. Technical Certification in Networks hardware and software applications
4. Specialized training in various communication systems
5. Specialized training in Data Communications networking
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
2. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assigned tasks.
3. Strong human relations and communications skills with an emphasis on customer support.
4. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft products.
5. Valid drivers license.
