About the Team & the Position
AEMOs Strategy Architecture & Emerging Technologies (SA&ET) team are responsible for the following core functions:
- Maintenance of AEMOs technology strategy and its alignment with the AEMO business vision goals and strategic imperatives to ensure that the IS strategy is maintained / updated as part of company planning processes
- Development and evolution of the architecture plans (Business Cyber Security Data Application and Technology and roadmaps) to guide the development of systems and platforms and support AEMOs strategic imperatives.
The Lead Business Analyst is responsible for overseeing all business analyst activities on a program of work portfolio that will reduce operational and cyber risks of AEMOs core systems. This role will help bridge the gap between technology and business teams. The Lead Business Analyst will work closely with the Manager Program Solution Architecture and Manager Solution Architecture Operations and System Design to ensure requirements are complete consistent accurate and measurable and supports delivery of program related initiatives. This role contributes to establishing and adapting best practices within the BA community.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of business analysts and activities related to reduce operational and cyber risks of AEMOs core systems.
- Conduct analysis of business needs objectives and requirements. Ensure requirements align to the program business case scope and outcomes. Review requirements for consistency completeness and accuracy.
- Contribute to establishing and adapting best practices within the BA community. Influence how requirements are elicited what BA artefacts are produced how they are signed off and transitioned to development and testing teams.
- Planning and resource allocation. Work closely with Portfolio Delivery Manager Program and Project Managers and Manager Program Solution Architecture to proactively forecast and plan for demand. Ensure capex recovery. Recruitment and hire of business analysts to meet program/ project demand. Includes performance planning and career development.
- Build and maintain key relationships with various stakeholders including Process Analysts Solution Architects Business Domain Architects Enterprise Architects Portfolio Delivery Manager Program/Project Managers and Business SMEs. Initial point of escalation for requirements for projects.
- Build business domain knowledge within the team and manage knowledge retention. Work with Architects to ensure solutions designs align with the business/ functional requirements
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in real time business critical technology environments.
- Strong experience in the energy industry or related businesses. Experience / knowledge of AEMO core and market applications is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly grasp complex business issues and systems. Managing complexity and competing priorities
- Ability to handle business and project issues proactively and escalate appropriately.
- Exceptional stake holder management skills. Building relationships and trust with all levels
- Managing budgets and controlling costs
- Breadth of experiences in technical / functional domain
- The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a level of security clearance. Risk awareness and management.
Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.
Education/ professional Certifications:
Tertiary level qualifications in IT Computer Science ortechnology discipline
