Position Summary
The Director of Information Systems and Technology will oversee the planning implementation and management of technology services and infrastructure for all Town Departments. This role will require (1) a strong understanding of current issues in technology (2) command of data/cyber security regulations and best practices (3) depth of knowledge and experience with managing technology infrastructure (4) depth of knowledge and experience with instructional applications of technology in the education setting (5) demonstrated success working with multiple departments and elected officials and (6) excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the Town Manager and Deputy Superintendent to coordinate short and long term planning for information systems and technology infrastructure.
- Confidentiality: Oversight and management of highly confidential employee student and financial information.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive technology plan that aligns with the strategic goals of both the School Department and the Town.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design implementation and maintenance of technology infrastructure including networks servers and cloud-based systems.
- Technology Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users throughout the School Department and the Town.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the technology departments operating and capital budgets.
- Staff Management: Recruit hire train and supervise technology staff.
- Data Security: Ensure the security and privacy of sensitive employee student and financial information.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant technology data privacy and data security regulations and standards.
- Innovation: Stay current with emerging technology trends and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Other Duties: As assigned by the Town Manager and/or Deputy Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or beyond in computer science information technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology leadership role.
- Strong understanding of technology infrastructure networking and cybersecurity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience with educational technology or municipal technology is preferred.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Certifications in ITIL PMP or other relevant certifications.
- Advanced degrees in related fields
- Experience with cloud-based technologies.
- Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence.
- Experience with school department technology operations.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office environment with occasional travel to school sites or municipal facilities.
- May require occasional work outside of regular business hours.
