Job DescriptionSpecial Education Teacher - Tiverton Public Schools is seeking a committed and compassionate Special Education Teacher for a mostly self-contained classroom serving elementary students on the autism spectrum. This program supports students with a range of needs across communication academics social-emotional development and behavior. The ideal candidate is collaborative organized and skilled in creating structured supportive and engaging learning Special Education Teacher in this position is responsible for the instructional and behavioral programming in a mostly self-contained classroom with some opportunities for inclusion based on individual student needs. The classroom is supported by paraprofessionals and related service providers and uses a highly individualized approach. Responsibilities include:Instructional ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instruction aligned to students IEP goals across academic functional and social-emotional evidence-based strategies specific to learners on the autism spectrum (e.g. visual supports structured teaching social stories sensory tools AAC).Collaborate with general education staff to support meaningful inclusion when differentiated lessons to address a wide range of learning profiles and developmental and Social-Emotional SupportsImplement and monitor behavior support plans using data to inform self-regulation independence and positive peer interactions through structured routines and proactive a calm predictable classroom environment that meets sensory and emotional and TeamingWork closely with paraprofessionals providing coaching modeling and ongoing with related service providers (speech OT PT BCBA social worker) to embed strategies into the daily regularly with families to ensure consistency between school and home in IEP meetings progress monitoring and team and ComplianceCollect data and maintain records for progress monitoring goal tracking and behavior IEPs and complete all required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
