Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate ESL teacher to support English Learners (ELs) in grades 1 through 5. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in language development and culturally responsive practices to help students thrive academically socially and linguistically.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct ESL instruction to students in small group and/or inclusion settings across grades 15
- Develop and implement engaging differentiated lessons aligned with WIDA standards and students language development levels
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support integrated instruction and co-teaching models
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of language development/services
- Conduct language proficiency assessments (e.g. ACCESS) and participate in the identification and reclassification process
- Communicate regularly with families including those from diverse linguistic backgrounds to support student learning and engagement
- Serve as an advocate for English Learners within the school community
- Participate in professional development and school-based initiatives related to language equity and inclusive instruction
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field (Masters preferred)
- Valid teaching license with ESL/ELL endorsement (required)
- Experience working with elementary-aged English Learners
- Knowledge of second language acquisition theory WIDA standards and culturally responsive teaching practices
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Commitment to equity inclusion and continuous professional growth
