School Nurse Location: Andrew J. Brown Academy Salary:MinimumBase $40000 Position Type: Full-Time Role and Responsibilities The role of the PSOE School Nurse is to assess educate and intervene as needed to maximize classroom time minimize absences due to illness and support a healthy school environment while respecting the dignity and rights of the patient/client regardless of socioeconomic status personal attributes or nature of health problems.
Responsibilities - Maintains compliance with State and Board of Education regulations.
- Implements school programs regarding physical examinations immunization and sight and hearing testing.
- Provides first aid nursing care intervention and referrals for ill and injured students.
- Implements Board policy regarding the exclusion and readmission of students with respect to certain infectious and contagious diseases (e.g. Tuberculosis).
- Will maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law and Board of Education policies.
- Assist in developing an individual health care plan (ICHP) when needed which includes: specific goals nursing diagnosis and interventions with clear actions unique to students needs and for incorporation into the students individualized educational plan (IEP).
- Reports to parents school district personnel and physicians and others as needed to meet student health needs.
- May be called on to provide health education to students as requested.
Program Planning and Management - The School Nurse will collaborate with students parents school district staff and community agencies to safeguard continuity of care for students.
- Participate in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive school health program. May serve as a member of school teams as designated health care professional (e.g. Crisis Teams PPT Section 504).
- Contributes to nursing and school health through innovations in theory; practice and participation in research including narrative and statistical reports.
Qualifications and Education Requirements - IN registered Nursing License
- Working knowledge of federal state and local laws and regulations affecting school health services
- Current certification as an RN
- Annual training and/or professional development is required for all PSOE employees. Job-specific training is identified and scheduled by the School Principal or directsupervisor in partnership with Paramount C-suite.
Preferred Skills - Previous pediatric and school environment experience
- Must demonstrate a genuine interest in the PSOE student population and its health needs.
- Ability to organize a health office and manage time
- Proficiency in technology.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to charter schools.
- Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.

PSOE School Nurse is required to have contact with children who are ill. They must be capable of performing first aid and CPR and is regularly required to talk or hear or smell. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk; run; and use hands to perform examinations or handle tools or controls. This job requires the ability to see clearly in close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and to perform a 2-person lift over 50 pounds.

The School Nurse usually works in standard workplaces but will frequently be required to complete tasks in a wide variety of locations within the school campus. The School Nurse works a standard workweek but additionally may work evenings and weekends.
