The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has a perfect opportunity for you as a Pavement Condition Engineer !
Job Description: This position will perform structural pavement analysis and oversee the collection and reporting of pavement condition data. Duties include but are not limited to analyzing Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data to obtain pavement structure characteristics updating state highway inventory systems and assisting in the processing reporting and delivery of pavement condition data collected by the SDDOTs inertial profiler.
This position is in an office setting Monday through Friday 40 hours per week with occasional overnight travel.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Only applicants with a bachelors of science degree in civil engineering mechanical engineering or related engineering field will be considered.
Desired Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
transportation systems;
theories principles and practices of engineering;
engineering properties of materials and surfacing types;
pavement management and design;
Excel Word and other Microsoft products;
basic familiarity with ArcMap or other GIS applications.
Skill to:
perform structural pavement analysis on projects identified in Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP);
analyze asphalt pavement for load limit determinations and requested airport runways;
conduct analysis and prepare technical reports;
interpret highway construction plans for inclusion in inventory system;
develop and assign field testing and inventory schedules;
prepare accurate and timely highway system information;

Compensation:
The total compensation of Hourly Wage State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Pavement Condition Engineer is approximately $89431.00 annually.
