Job Description

This is a remote position.

Position: Senior Learning Designer
Location: Remote (working with clients in AU UK NZ)
Employment Type: Full-time (40hrs/wk)


Role Overview
As a Senior Learning Designer you will lead the end-to-end creation of transformative digital learning experiences across higher education vocational and enterprise sectors. In this role you will manage multi-stakeholder projects apply pedagogical best practices and collaborate with subject matter experts and creative teams to deliver innovative learner-centred course ware. This hands-on position blends strategic thinking instructional design and project management to improve learning outcomes. You will report to the Director of Learning Experiences and work closely with internal and external teams contributing to thought leadership and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead 3 5 concurrent learning design projects from initiation to delivery ensuring quality and alignment with learning objectives timelines and budgets.

  • Collaborate with clients subject matter experts and internal teams to co-design engaging outcomes-driven learning experiences across various formats.

  • Apply evidence-based pedagogy digital learning standards and AQF compliance to course materials and design plans.

  • Oversee planning resource allocation and progress tracking for complex design programs; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Contribute to business development by supporting proposals presenting at client meetings and identifying follow-on opportunities based on project success.

  • Mentor junior team members and promote strong design practice through peer reviews design standards and team rituals.

  • Continuously evaluate and integrate AI and automation tools to enhance content creation learner engagement project delivery and team workflows.


Performance Milestones (Day Plan)

First 30 Days

  • Complete onboarding with Curio s tools platforms design frameworks and project templates.

  • Shadow active projects and participate in design stand-ups SME interviews and internal rituals.

  • Begin client engagement on at least one active project contributing to analysis design planning or delivery.

By 60 Days

  • Take full ownership of at least two client projects including managing timelines stakeholders and design quality.

  • Deliver high-quality learning assets using Curio s pedagogy standards and toolkits.

  • Document design workflows identify improvement opportunities and propose enhancements.

By 90 Days

  • Lead stakeholder workshops to define design strategy learner personas and experience goals.

  • Present results from an AI or process automation pilot that improves content development or project planning.

  • Actively mentor one junior designer and contribute to internal design forums or capability building sessions.



Requirements


  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in instructional design education or a related field.

  • 3 5 years experience designing digital learning for higher education vocational or enterprise environments.

  • Proven success leading learning design projects and managing stakeholders in complex multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong understanding of contemporary learning theories adult learning principles and digital pedagogy.

  • High-level written communication skills and experience crafting student-facing learning materials.

  • Proficiency with learning technologies (e.g. LMS platforms authoring tools media tools) and collaboration platforms (e.g. Miro Trello Slack Google Workspace).

  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver outcomes on time and within scope.

  • Experience using or piloting AI-powered tools for content design learner analytics or workflow automation is highly desirable.



At least 3 years of experience in a similar or related role, with a track record of creating impactful eLearning experiences. Strong English communication skills, both oral and written, for collaborating with stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of LMS platforms and eLearning technologies. Experience with instructional, graphic, or web design is a plus. A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is helpful for customizing and enhancing content.
