Position Summary

The Opportunity:Skagit Valley College (SVC) invites applications for a part-time Head SoftballCoach. As a key leader of the SVC Softball program the coach will guide the team within the standards of the NWAC focusing on instruction team development recruitment fundraising and community engagement. Depending on the candidates qualifications and current vacancy availability this role may be eligible to be combined with an overtime-eligible exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Coaching

  • Teach and develop softball skills for collegiate-level play;
  • Promote sportsmanship and act as a role model;
  • Ensure compliance with NWAC and college rules;
  • Adhere to Title IX policies.
Program Management & Administration
  • Develop comprehensive practice plans;
  • Recruit student-athletes following NWAC and SVC guidelines;
  • Complete necessary paperwork (eligibility travel rosters);
  • Assist with purchasing scheduling and fundraising.
Community & Academic Engagement
  • Promote the softball program within SVC and the surrounding community;
  • Support student-athlete academic progress and retention;
  • Engage with conference meetings fundraising events and campus initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent in a related field;
OR
  • Two (2) years of successful coaching experience;
  • Collegiate-level softball coaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a related field;
  • Proven experience recruiting and retaining student-athletes;
  • Experience working with diverse populations;
  • Track record of supporting students academic and athletic success.
