Purpose Statement
The job of Low Voltage Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing technical maintenance and repairs to low voltage systems with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing repairing and/or upgrading low voltage systems; ensuring compliance with building codes health and safety codes; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; providing information on the proper uses of equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.
Essential Functions
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLSare required to perform single technical tasks with a need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in low voltage; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and adhering to safety practices. Successful completion of a trade school course. Two years of work experience will substitute for the trade school training. Four years of successful work experience in low voltage. Must be able to obtain WA State License within one (1) year of employment.
KNOWLEDGEis required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percent and/or ratios; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods techniques materials tools used in low voltage installation maintenance and repair; and safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of diagnosis and repair of low voltage systems and components. Operating knowledge and experience with computers and peripherals. Knowledge of District policies and procedures and departmental policies and safety practices.
ABILITYis required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; and working with frequent interruptions. Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with building staff coworkers and contractors. Ability to lift 50 pounds to chest height and push/pull 60 pounds. Ability to work in a variety of building areas including roofs crawl spaces chases and interstitial spaces. Ability to work in a variety of weather (indoors and outdoors).
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some climbing and balancing significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting 33% walking and 033% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education: Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
