Patient Care Tech Intern - Ortho Trauma Surgery

Full time Rotating shift 36 hours

Day / Night rotating shift

TheOrtho Trauma General Surgery Unitis a 32-bed acute care surgical inpatient unit with telemetry monitoring that provides care to primarily orthopedic ortho-spine trauma and general surgery patients. Common diagnoses and surgical procedures include the following: open reductions external fixation applications intermedullary nail insertions joint replacements laminectomies spinal fusions post-motor vehicle accident with multiple traumas post-violent crimes spinal cord tumors small bowel obstructions and abscess irrigation and debridement. Most patients admitted are transferred from intensive care units post-anesthesia care units and the emergency room. This is a fast-paced environment rich with many opportunities for learning. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that promotes teamwork between physicians nursing staff care management therapy and a variety of other disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care to their patients. This units powerful teamwork is the drive for its safe patient-centered care and healthy work environment that allows for the staff to thrive and grow both personally and professionally.

The Clinical Tech Intern works under the supervision of a nurse and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in Maryland is required.
  • Entry-level knowledge of basic clinical skills required to support nursing personnel with patient care activities and related services focused on the needs and comfort of patients. PCT Intern will remain in an intern role for no longer than 1 year. The PCT Intern will advance to the PCT I upon meeting training requirements.
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA Red Cross or Military Training Network accepted.

Salary Range: Minimum$17.00/hour - Maximum$17.00/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
