We are looking for a Safety and Airworthiness Engineer with broad experience in aerospace engineering activity to help us develop our Engineering Management and Mission Assurance (a cross engineering disciplined approach to ensuring that products and services deliver Mission Success and are safe and compliant with relevant legislation and regulations ) process and procedures. . The role combines the application of technical knowledge with the Boeing programme systems engineering quality and safety management systems to ensure that our products and services are fit for purpose.
Responsibilities will include:
Governance: Lead the development and implementation of the Engineering Management System governance framework aligning people processes and tools for a consistent approach to engineering.
Coordinate: Support the Engineering Subject Matter Experts to coordinate compliment and integrate work strands where appropriate.
Compliance: Develop the Mission Assurance strategy and concept of operations for BDUK using existing Boeing Command Media enterprise guidance and industry best practice.
Management Plans: Develop options for execution of strategy to deliver effective technical compliance oversight of all BDUK engineering activity.
Process development: Coordinate the Development and implementation of Engineering Home Office and Mission Assurance processes manuals and tools.
Technical Assurance: Coordination of support to and follow up on key independent assurance reviews (Mission Assurance Independent Reviews Flight/Test Mission Assurance Readiness Reviews and Technical Design Reviews).
Stakeholder engagement: Assuring the development of technically compliant solutions for a range of new campaigns and programmes across different regulators and domains. Including through but not limited to participation in Enterprise Standard Gated Reviews and key Engineering gate assurance activity.
Leadership and Oversight: Serve as the Area of Practice Lead coordinator for BDUK and the Mission Assurance Area of Practice Lead. This will include defining Mission Assurance activities ensuring clear assignment of responsibilities to suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) and validating their competencies.
Training and Development: Identify training gaps and collaborate with the Head of Department to address them effectively.
Best Practices Development: Establish a Best Practice Mission Assurance Area of Practice to educate and integrate teams across the wider Engineering function.
Metrics and Monitoring: Manage and control Engineering and Mission Assurance metrics to facilitate management performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives(metrics reporting team tasking risk/issue/opportunity management).
Support to ensure Mission Success: Independently identify analyze and assist adequate resolution of programmatic engineering operations quality supplier-related risks and issues. Co-ordination & facilitation of engineering Root Cause Corrective Action (eRCCA).
Forging of effective working arrangements with the quality management and safety management systems within BDUK.
Direct report to head of Safety Airowrthiness and Speciality Engineering.

Required (Essential) Qualifications (Experience/Education/Skills):
Applied experience across some or all elements of Systems Engineering: requirements management; interface management; system architectures; MBSE; integration of specialties; Verification and Validation; technical governance and change management
Applied experience in delivering Continuous Improvement within an engineering domain
Understanding of Quality Assurance Management
Demonstrate the ability to plan of work and develop/use meaningful metrics to evaluate project status and provide performance visibility
Able to effectively identify and execute opportunities to improve strategies processes and project plans
The candidate should possess strong communication and influencing skills technical competency and skills with project management concepts/tools
An ability to effectively communicate written technical information;
Proficient office IT skills
Experience of working within an aviation Safety Management System (MRP or ICAO)
Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed and diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications (Experience/Education/Skills):
Experience of Customer and wider stakeholder management
The role will have significant wider Boeing interface and therefore a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is required. Some UK and International travel is expected
A drive to action approach with the ability to be resilient and flexible in a fast-paced environment
A degree level (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering Systems Engineering or an Engineering related field (Preferred not Essential) and already be or aspire to be professionally registered through a professional engineering institution.

Willingness and eligibility to undergo and obtain a SECURITY CHECK/CLEARANCE is required.
