GRCC is looking for either a Systems Administrator at the mid or senior level. The skill level experience and other qualifications will determine the position offered.
The Systems Administrator - Endpoint Management role is focused on endpoint and software configuration systems (i.e.: Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM/SCCM) Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune). Endpoint administrators work closely with partner teams in Information Technology to deploy support and secure additional systems to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of the College. This position is an integral part of the IT Services team as a final point of escalation providing technology support and troubleshooting. In addition to systems administration this role is responsible for the packaging of approved applications managing and supporting the Colleges operating systems supporting customer-centric solutions and maintaining the Colleges Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Endpoint administrators are expected to provide training to both technical and non-technical staff as it relates to systems under their administration. To support this work endpoint administrators should be familiar with a myriad of programming scripting and instrumentation languages supporting both the macOS and Windows operating system and maintain an excellent command of modern technology.

Essential Functions
Systems Administrator:
Software Management
- Build maintain and deploy academic and operational software packages.
- Ensure the viability and continued use of College software through regular updates and support.
- Follow established change and release management procedures for software distribution.
- Develop and maintain scripts (e.g. Bash PowerShell VBScript WMI .NET XML) to support endpoint management tasks.
Endpoint Administration
- Configure test and support end-user computing resources including software installations and updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated service requests and incidents.
- Manage and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for secure consistent endpoint configurations.
- Provide technical guidance to Desktop Support and Support Desk teams.
Systems Administration
- Administer core systems such as Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) Windows Update for Business Jamf Pro licensing servers Microsoft KMS NAPA TRACS and other essential platforms.
- Manage Active Directory including computer objects group policies and organizational unit structures.
- Support cloud-hosted systems such as Microsoft 365.
Imaging Deployment & Mobile Device Management
- Create and maintain operating system images and deployment task sequences.
- Manage and deploy drivers and driver layers for supported hardware.
- Deploy images using tools such as WDS WinPE PXE and Apple automated enrollment.
Other Responsibilities
- Document processes and technical work in the service management knowledge base and ticketing system.
- Collaborate with other IT teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Train and mentor student employees.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
Senior Systems Administrator
Software Management
- Oversee software packaging and distribution in alignment with institutional standards and academic schedules.
- Administer the Colleges Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and maintain the Software Catalog.
- Develop and implement change and release management procedures for software and scripts.
- Manage software licensing tools repositories versioning systems (e.g. Git) and track licensing information.
- Provide guidance on software license usage and assess technical feasibility for new software.
- Participate in the Software Governance Committee and support cross-functional software planning.
Endpoint Administration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and resolve complex issues.
- Design and implement security measures for endpoint devices in coordination with the Information Security office.
- Report trends recommend solutions and provide performance metrics related to endpoint systems.
- Lead administration of endpoint configuration tools such as Group Policy mobile device management and endpoint protection platforms.
- Author technical specifications for the procurement of end-user computing resources.
Systems Administration
- Lead management of key systems including MCM Jamf Pro Windows Update for Business licensing servers and specialized academic software platforms.
- Administer cloud-hosted environments like Microsoft 365 and ensure secure integration with on-premise systems.
- Manage certificate and token lifecycles for systems within the endpoint portfolio.
- Provide training on managed systems and submit recommendations on emerging technologies to enhance College operations.
Imaging OSD & Mobile Device Management
- Define and enforce standards for operating system imaging and deployment.
- Approve and deploy images using WDS WinPE PXE and Apple Automated Enrollment tools.
- Administer driver deployments and Apple School Manager resources to ensure consistency and compliance.
Business Operations
- Develop and maintain clear accurate documentation for operational procedures and IT service management systems.
- Analyze business needs and recommend technical solutions aligned with College goals.
- Liaise with vendors to support system functionality and continuous improvement.
- Generate and support business intelligence using reporting tools to inform decision-making.
Other Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor student and/or contingent employees including hiring evaluation and scheduling.
- Engage proactively with campus stakeholders to support new technology initiatives.

Education Credentials
Systems Administrator
- Bachelors degree (preferred) from an accredited institution ideally in Computer Information Systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one relevant certification required such as Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator Associate Jamf or Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP).
Senior Systems Administrator
- Bachelors degree (required) from an accredited institution ideally in Computer Information Systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more advanced certifications required such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert Jamf Certified Tech or Apple Certified IT Professional.
Work Experience
Systems Administrator
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Information Technology required.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise configuration management and software deployment tools such as Microsoft Intune Jamf Pro or Apple School/Business Manager required.
- Experience in architecting administering and supporting large-scale enterprise systems preferred.
- Strong proficiency in technical writing and documentation required.
- Previous experience in higher education preferred.
Senior Systems Administrator
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Information Technology required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with enterprise configuration management and deployment tools such as Microsoft Intune Jamf Pro or Apple School/Business Manager required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience designing administering and managing complex enterprise systems preferred.
- Strong proficiency in technical writing and documentation required.
- Previous experience in higher education preferred.
