Were hiring for a full-time Medical Support Assistant - EMT/Paramedicto join our Community Response/SOS Team 41 Montebello Rd. Pueblo CO 81001.

Work schedule: 12-hour shifts

10 am 10 pm varied Monday through Saturday

Report to Supervisor of team

What Youll Be Doing

As the Medical Support Assistant -EMT/Paramedic for the Solutions Outreach Services (SOS) Team you will provide mobile community-based services in response to calls identified by Pueblo Police Dispatch. These calls involve behavioral health concerns that do not require law enforcement intervention. In this role you will assist with medical care and support de-escalation case management and facilitate connections to appropriate behavioral health services.

Your work is essential to reducing unnecessary law enforcement involvement and ensuring individuals receive timely and appropriate care. Additionally you will support and educate family members equipping them with the information and resources needed to assist loved ones experiencing mental illness and/or substance use disorders as well as to care for their own well-being.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to behavioral health-related calls dispatched by the Pueblo Police Department that do not require a law enforcement officer on-site.
  • Utilize your EMT training and experience to provide immediate medical care and support such as administering first aid assessing vital signs and managing any physical health emergencies.
  • Takes health history
  • Establish rapport and build trust with individuals in crisis offering non-judgmental and empathetic peer support.
  • Deliver services in the community or home settings depending on client needs.
  • Offer case management support including service linkage follow-up and basic needs assistance (e.g. housing food benefits medical and legal referrals).
  • Complete necessary documentation such as the VI-SPDAT and input encounters into HMIS (Homeless Management Information System).
  • Document all interactions assessments and interventions accurately and in a timely manner adhering to confidentiality and legal guidelines.
  • Provide emotional support actively listening to individuals concerns and provide encouragement and validation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including mental health clinicians social workers and emergency responders to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response.
  • Coordinate with internal Health Solutions programs including Crisis Services Case Management Care Coordination Outpatient and Recovery Services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in interagency collaboration with law enforcement jail diversion programs the courts and other criminal justice entities.
  • Attend clinical consultations team meetings and staffings as required.
  • Participate in training to enhance intervention skills EMT skills
  • Maintain knowledge of current mental health crisis response protocols EMT protocols policies and best practices.
  • Assist management with program reporting presentations and data tracking as assigned.

  • Monitor and maintain supply levels; ensure all expired supplies are regularly removed
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for clients (wiping down high touch areas/medical equipment)
  • This is a field-based role not office-based employees will work out of a fully equipped company van and respond to service calls throughout the day.
  • This is a driving-intensive position that requires safe and reliable operation of a company vehicle throughout your shift.
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

What were looking ForThe Must-Haves

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent and
  • Associate degree or certified as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic;
  • Valid Colorado drivers license and acceptable driving record;
  • Computer skills and knowledge of medical electronic health records;
  • Candidate must pass background checks;
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in field-based and fast-paced environments including homes streets and public spaces and with law enforcement.

What wed Like to See in youthe Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working with Mental Health Crisis or two years of additional health care experience.
  • Spanish language skills
