The Assistant Dean provides strategic leadership for a broad portfolio of student support services and policy coordination within the Division of the Student Experience. This role oversees key student success programs serves as the primary coordinator for student-facing policies chairs the Behavioral Intervention and On Call Teams and provides supervisory leadership across multiple departments and represents the division on university-wide initiatives. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring exceptional collaboration judgment and commitment to student success.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Student Success: Provide supervision and coordination of all aspects of the Student Success program including coordination of case management program implementation of Slate for Student Success Early Alert response implementation of EdSights tool collaborates with Athletics to coordinate ongoing support of student-athletes and management of all Student Success related communication (ie: non-registered student outreach balance outreach out of class notifications etc.)
- Student Rights and Responsibility: Serves as coordinator of all student-facing policy coordination for the Division of the Student Experience including Student Handbook coordination state and federal hazing requirements and Academic Integrity; Serves as an Appeals Officer in Accommodations and Conduct Appeals; Coordinates with the Law School to create seamless processes around the Student Handbook and the Law School Honor Code; Serves as the Divisions lead on the Bias Response Process
- Intervention: Chair the Behavioral Intervention Team and the On Call Team to ensure best practices and the highest level of support to students and the community as a whole
- Supervisory Support: Provides supervisory support for the following areas: Accessibility Services Residential and Commuter Life Student Conduct Student Success and Title IX including direct reports six other full and part-time professional staff members and over 40 student employees
- Division Representation: Serve as a divisional leader for the Student Experience division and represent the division on University committees and at University events
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree (M. A.) or equivalent preferred; or four to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to understand communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures. Possesses a positive attitude towards cultural differences. Willing to gain knowledge of different cultural practices and world views and determine how those practices and views will factor in during investigations complaints reports findings etc.
- To perform this job successfully an individual should have excellent skills in the Microsoft suite of products inDesign Canva and social media platforms
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to effectively present information to a wide range of constituents. Ability to facilitate discussion groups and workshops; ability to coordinate events; ability to update and maintain social media presence and organizational listservs.
