A Brief Overview

The Population Health Assistant supports operations within the Avera Health Plans Population Health Department. This role involves assisting in the coordination of medical benefit services pharmacy benefit services prior authorization processing member and provider outreach data entry and administrative functions to ensure the delivery of high-quality cost-effective insurance benefits. The Assistant is an integrated member of the Population Health Team which exists to provide comprehensive medical management wellness and quality of service to its members.

What you will do

  • Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients staff and physicians to provide exceptional high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to navigate an electronic medical record and supporting software and applications utilized within the Population Health Department.
  • Supports the processing and documentation of medical and pharmacy prior authorization requests and formulary management tasks.
  • Performs data entry and verification of data to support the daily operations of the Population Heatlh Department.
  • Communicates effectively with providers pharmacies and members regarding medical and pharmacy benefits and medication access.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits related to medical and pharmacy services.

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years Healthcare (hospital retail or managed care).
