Job Description
The College Access Advisor will provide academic support services to students in the HATS program ensuring their eligibility success and post-secondary readiness. They will recruit and provide services for students. Responsibilities include assisting with college applications financial aid career exploration and offering tutoring mentoring and workshops. The role also includes planning and leading activities maintaining confidential participant records and building relationships with local schools colleges and community organizations. This position supervises field trips college visits overnight camps and occasional travel for professional development. This position requires travel to target schools in Mason and Wayne counties. This position supports the implementation of services outlined in the HATS grant proposal to help students achieve academic and career goals. This position requires strong communication organizational and technical skills along with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups especially low-income first-generation students. Essential Job Functions: 1. Identify Eligible Participants: Follow TRIO and Talent Search (TS) regulations to identify eligible participants for the program. 2. Facilitate and Promote Academic Support: Provide individual and group academic support services to program participants ensuring their success in the program. 3. Provide Educational Support: Offer information and guidance on post- secondary education financial aid academic assessments career exploration college tours cultural activities mentoring and tutoring services. 4. Assist with Applications: Help students and their parents/guardians with the completion of applications for postsecondary programs. 5. Plan and Lead Program Activities: Design facilitate promote and present various programs and activities for participants and their families. 6. Maintain Confidential Participant Records: Keep accurate confidential and well-documented participant files in line with federal regulations and HATS policies. 7. Conduct Workshops and Presentations: Organize and lead workshops and presentations at target schools and the wider community to enhance program visibility and understanding. 8. Establish Relationships with Local Schools: Build collaborative relationships with middle and high schools in Mason and Wayne Counties to foster program participation. 9. Develop Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with post-secondary institutions and community-based agencies to strengthen the program and offer more opportunities for participants. 10. Supervise Field Trips and College Visits: Ensure safe and educational experience of field trips college visits and other related excursions provided to program participants. 11. Travel for Work: Travel to target schools off-campus sites and professional development training to ensure program growth and staff development. 12. Other Duties as Assigned: Undertake any other responsibilities necessary to implement services outlined in the Heart of Appalachia Talent Search grant proposal.
